St. Maarten | St. Martin: Travel and Health information (2022)
For everyone that likes to visit St. Maarten | St. Martin, both Dutch and French side put procedures and requirements in place. Most are very common but there are some differences.
We (We Are SXM) understand COVID-19 make traveling harder due to the cost and hassle of testing. But remember: places that generally rate $300 a night, now have deals at $150 a night, so coming in these times saves you large sums of money while enjoying an even better Caribbean experience!
Electronic Health Authorization System (EHAS) of Sint Maarten
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Sint Maarten has established a mandatory health authorization application through an Electronic Health Authorization System (EHAS) for every visitor whether arriving by air, boat, or in transit. Without health authorization, entry into the country will be denied by the immigration authorities. Visitors are encouraged to complete this process as soon as they have received their rt- PCR test results.
Testing centers on Sint Maarten | Saint Martin
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, several countries have established new rules and regulations to enter back into the country. Please make sure to check the entry requirements of your country. COMMON MISTAKES:
With We Are SXM we heard that several people had trouble at the Airport or elsewhere with their PCR-test or Antigen testing form and so we did some research on the most common mistakes.
Please make sure the following is on your test results for no issues upon arrival:
- Make sure the “NAME” is spelled 100% correct.
- “DATE”, “TIME” of testing so they can check it was no longer than the described hours prior to your travel.
- Make sure the test result mentions “NASAL” and “PCR” or “Antigen”. Without they will have to do another Nasal swap upon arrival which costs $125.
- The original test needs to be uploaded online within 48 or 24 hours prior to your travel and shown upon arrival. A written statement or email from a doctor or anyone else is not sufficient.

FRENCH SIDE: SAINT MARTIN
The French and Dutch sides have the same entry protocols, measures, and surveillance in place as mentioned above. The border between French Saint Martin and Dutch Sint Maarten is open and traveling between the two sides allowed without border-check.
Please respect both the barrier measures and the remaining restrictions.
TRAVEL
There are no restrictions for travel to Metropolitan France from the European space (European Union Member States, United Kingdom, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marina, Switzerland, Vatican) and the following countries: Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay.
Travel to France from outside the European zone remains restricted. You may be asked to respect a quarantine period on arrival.
